Getting in Touch With Your Heart Space
With a busy mind, it can be difficult to hear the voice of your heart. The mind speaks one language, while the heart speaks another. Mindfulness is an act of fusing the head and the heart so we can make wise but compassionate choices.
Why is yoga such an essential tool for getting in touch with our heart?
Yoga is a sacred practice of unity. By moving the body and physically expressing energy we release built up tension. When we tune our physical self, we can then begin to quiet the mind. When the monkey mind stills that is when the truth of our heart can arise. Through meditative movement, also referred to as moving with the breath, we begin to sync the body and the mind. When the two become harmonious we unlock a deeper level of inner awareness.
When our body, mind and heart move in unity we embody our greatest expression. Yoga is one tool for bringing more stillness. What are other ways of connecting with our heart?
Through love in its simplest form. By following what fills you with true joy you will find your heart. Listen to what excites you, explore what brings you awe and be courageously honest about what makes you feel passionate.
When we enter a state of flow, or timelessness, you can be sure you are doing the work of the heart.
What do you enjoy doing so much you lose track of time?
It is there, you will find true love.
Another way of tapping into the heart, is through writing.
It can be difficult if you’re not some one who regularly writes to drop into heart - at first. But just like meditation, with practice comes progress. At first, your pages may be filled with monkey matters of the mind but once you get through those layers of noise you can begin to write the deeper messages of your heart. Once the stress, or day to day account of your life starts to fade away something greater steps in. Much of the work of getting into the heart is about removing the noise and obstacles.
Finding stillness, will bring the hearts voice forward.
